An Evening at Wristwatch Check
Last Saturday, I found myself surrounded by enthusiasts of equally incredible works —watches and cars—at Wristwatch Check, an event that effortlessly blended the worlds of horology and automotive design. Hosted at the Fox Classic Car Collection, the night carried a casual yet undeniably luxurious feel, with interesting timepieces and stunning vehicles displayed side by side.
The event was set across two floors, with an open courtyard showcasing an incredible lineup of classic and modern cars. The attention to detail in both the automotive and watch displays were striking, and the atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasts, collectors, and industry insiders, all sharing a deep passion for precision and craftsmanship.
One of the highlights of the evening was my conversation with the team at Beaufort, who had some fantastic pieces on display. We dove deep into their design philosophy, materials, and what makes their watches stand out in a growing market. It’s always great to hear directly from the people shaping the industry, especially in the microbrand space, where innovation is thriving.
While the watches were impressive, the cars were just as breathtaking. Every vehicle on display was a masterpiece, each telling its own story of craftsmanship, speed, and engineering excellence. The event truly highlighted the shared DNA between cars and watches—precision, design, and an obsession with quality.
For the night, I wore my Lorier Hydra SIII, which drew attention from fellow microbrand enthusiasts. It was a conversation starter, proving that the appreciation for well-crafted, accessible watches is growing. Events like Wristwatch Check show how watch collecting is becoming more inclusive, with independent brands offering incredible value.
One of the more memorable moments of the night was the charity auction. A watch was auctioned off to support Beyond Blue, an incredible initiative that added a meaningful layer to the evening. Beyond just admiring craftsmanship and design, it was a reminder of the power of community within the watch space.
Walking away from Wristwatch Check, it was clear that the enthusiasm for watches is stronger than ever, and the microbrand industry is making it easier for people to dive into the world of horology without spending a fortune. The passion from brand owners, collectors, and enthusiasts alike was evident in every conversation, and the night felt like a celebration of everything we love about watches and cars.
Would I attend again? Absolutely.
